The popular free media player VLC has been updated to 3.0 (Vetinari).

Known as the free multi-platform media player capable of playing just about anything, VLC has had a popular following as a free alternative for Windows 8 and Windows 10 users who wanted to play DVD's and Blu-Ray movies on their PCs.

As you can see below, VLC 3.0 now offers hardware decoding for 4K and 8K video playback, 360 video and 3D audio, and you can stream to Chromecast devices.
